Junior Dos Santos, Cain Velasquez Have Plenty Of Respect For One Another Ahead Of UFC 155

UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos and his challenge, Cain Velasquez, have spent several months getting to know the other.

In just a matter of days, dos Santos will put his title on the line against Velasquez at UFC 155. The two went to battle late in 2011, with ?Cigano? scoring a first round TKO victory to earn the belt.

While many felt dos Santos would meet Alistair Overeem, the former Strikeforce champion was unable to get his suspension shortened for a failed drug test. Dos Santos fielded a question Wednesday during a conference call concerning Overeem, though he did not name him specifically.

I prefer to fight against clean athletes, real professional fighters. Cain Velasquez is one of these guys. He is a real, professional fighter. He is a good challenge for me. The other guys, they just say things, but that is nothing behind the words. Guys like me and Cain Velasquez, we are made at the gym; guys like the other guy there, he is made at the laboratory.

Dos Santos needed help in coming up with the translation for laboratory, but there was no question who he was referencing. Overeem has called dos Santos out throughout the year, and unlike previous times, the Brazilian has responded.

Velasquez, meanwhile, said he has ?a lot of respect for Junior. The way he carries himself in the cage of off. There is no trash talking, just down to business. I am very respectful of him.?

So, while we don?t have any of the animosity between dos Santos and Velasquez as say Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, or Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell, the two will not go lightly on each other come December 29.
