Charlie Sheen has lost his goddesses -- but has he gained a job? RadarOnline is reporting that Sheen has inked a deal with Lionsgate to develop a brand-new sitcom, where he'll have "more creative freedom" (and a higher percentage of the profits) than ever before. But as one door (possibly) opens for the actor, another one looks like it's closing forever: TMZ is reporting that Sheen's Two and a Half Men alter-ego Charlie Harper will be killed off in tragic fashion on the show's season 9 premiere.
That's right, sources tell the website that Men creator Chuck Lorre, who's relationship with Sheen has been far from simpatico of late, wants to make sure Charlie "can NEVER come back on the show." While Lorre hasn't yet locked the script for the episode (set to begin filming Aug. 5), he has been kicking around ideas for how Uncle Charlie meets his maker -- and Charle driving his car off a cliff is in serious contention. (May we also suggest having him fall down an elevator shaft? Classic.)
As for how, Uncle Chaz's death will pave the way for the introduction of replacement Ashton Kutcher, TMZ's sources say that word is that Kutcher's character will buy Harper's beachside abode -- and, we're assuming, make the strange decision to keep Alan (Jon Cryer) and Jake (Angus T. Jones) on as roommates.
But don't be too sad for old Uncle Charlie and his portrayer; that purported new sitcom is supposedly poised to make the Sheenius a Sheenload of money. On it, the actor would play a character "very similar" to Two and a Half Men's Charlie Harper (a character based on Sheen himself). However, the show is described as "racier" than his family-friendly CBS hit. Radar's source claims that the highest bidder is currently the cable network TBS -- meaning "the show can be raunchier and more outrageous" than on network TV, which the insider says is "perfect for Charlie!"
Unfortunately for Sheen, TBS doesn't seem to have gotten the memo that they're bidding on his sitcom. A rep for the cable channel informed Entertainment Weekly that "TBS is not in discussions for a possible project with Charlie Sheen." Sheen's rep has refused to clear up the confusion, saying only that Charlie "has received several offers, but at this time we cannot comment."
Guess we'll have to wait and see if the Charlie Sheen sitcom is rumor or reality. But speaking of reality -- if the sitcom isn't happening, we bet Sheen could easily sell a reality show.
